It?s 2012 Already So Where Are All The Jetsons Flying Cars

As we enter 2012, shouldn't we all be traveling around in flying cars by now? That was the prediction in the Jetsons cartoon tv show. The futuristic series, first produced by Hanna-Barbera in 1962, was set in 2062, exactly 50 years from today. 2012 is the halfway point, so we've still got some time before we are all driving around in flying cars. But, many other technology advances from the Jetsons are already with us.

The saucy snaps are normally meant for partners they are sexting, but have ended up with strangers or, even worse, their parents.

ESPN's bowl coverage swaps out the telestrator for augmented reality GameView

We dug into ESPN's use of the Xbox 360 and EA Sports games to power its Virtual Playbook segments last year, but in preparation for this round of BCS bowl games it's upgraded the system with a bit of augmented reality. The new GameView system uses a tabletop 70-inch touchscreen LCD, a copy of NCAA Football '12 and four dedicated workstations to blend everything together and create a simulation for viewers to see the analysts move virtual players around the field. It should at least be more interesting than CNN's previous election coverage implementation, although we're mostly wondering when a combo of Kinect, Surface and old school electronic football will bring the experience directly to our living rooms to play around with. Check out the gallery for a few more screens and expect to see this implemented more during the upcoming big time bowl games -- no, there's no secret code Desmond Howard can input to get a national championship game between two college football teams that haven't already played each other, we asked.

Cellular Policy

Fremont County has adopted a policy regulating the use of cell phones, instant messaging and text messaging at work.

The policy says:

- Employees should exercise the same discretion in using personal cell phones as they use with Fremont County phones.

- Employees should restrict personal calls during work time, striving to make them only during scheduled breaks or lunch periods in nonworking areas.

- Employees should not engage in the use of a cell phone when doing so would cause a distraction not the user or co-worker assisting a member of the public.

-Employees should avoid lengthy conversations on cell phones.

-Cell phones should turn down the sounds on their phones or switch to vibrate to prevent them from becoming a distraction in the workplace.

- The use of text messaging is limited to immediate family contact.

Will other counties and companies follow suit?
